Getting started

Install on Windows

Windows 10 and 11, the SmartScreen prompt, and what to check if system audio comes through silent.

On this page

Natively runs on Windows 10 (build 19041 or later) and Windows 11. System audio is captured through the OS loopback interface, so you do not need a virtual cable, Stereo Mix, or any third-party routing driver.

Install

  1. Download the .exe installer from the releases page.
  2. Windows SmartScreen will likely show Windows protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway. This appears for any installer without an Extended Validation certificate and is not a malware verdict.
  3. Complete the installer and launch Natively.

Permissions

Windows only gates the microphone. Open Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone, make sure Let apps access your microphone is on, and that Let desktop apps access your microphone below it is on too — the second toggle is separate and is the one people miss.

Antivirus and corporate machines

Natively captures screen content and audio, and can hide itself from the taskbar — a behaviour profile some endpoint-protection suites flag heuristically even though nothing is being exfiltrated. On a managed work laptop, assume your IT policy applies and check it before installing.

Portable use

If you install to a non-default location, keep the app directory writable — the local transcript database and embeddings index are written next to the app data, and a read-only install directory will leave you with a working assistant that cannot remember anything.
